Birthday Party Bands and Musicians for Hire

Our musicians provide a fee expectation on their profile, which you can use as a guideline for planning your budget. The fee is negotiated individually for each concert and depends on the expectations of each artist, the desired playing time, line-up, travel costs, equipment (if necessary) and the overall effort. As a guideline you should budget a fee of 350€ per artist and plan some buffer for additional requests. Important: "Asking is free!" Even if you are uncertain, it is always worthwhile to simply ask and describe your ideas. Most of the time, a good compromise can be found and many guests are happy to pay a contribution to the band's fee as a birthday present. This is a good way to cover larger fees.
A note for you: most artists distinguish between “real” concerts, i.e. events where their music is the center of attention, and service gigs, i.e. events where the music contributes to a beautiful setting and success of the event and often takes place more in the background or is meant to contribute to the entertainment. Depending on whether you actually plan a living room concert for your birthday, or invite a birthday party band as the highlight of your birthday party, the fee can vary as well.

First things first: Anything and everything is possible! We have helped plan birthday concerts with 25 people plus musicians in just 15m². Of course, a band with a drum set will need a bit more space than a single musician who plays unamplified and just needs a chair in the corner. If the band is to accompany the birthday party completely and is not only planned as a program item, it is definetly an advantage to have a small stage or area for it. Most musicians are excellent at adapting to the conditions at hand and adjusting to the space that is available. And after all, a birthday concert is most best when you experience it up close!

The right birthday party musician should first of all meet your taste in music! Artists or bands respond to the requests and mood of the birthday guests individually. For your birthday party with your best friends, you can invite everyone to a living room concert with a potluck buffet, a birthday brunch with a concert interlude, or a campfire concert with guitar music in the summer. If you are planning a big birthday and want to dance, a party band fits into the program. Or maybe you want to surprise your parents with a birthday song and live entertainment over some afternoon tea?

The earlier you request a band or musicians for your birthday, the more likely it is that your desired band will still be available on the desired date. It makes sense to request different bands 2-3 months in advance. However, you can also find great musicians for your birthday party at SofaConcerts on short notice – in that case, you should request several options and be a bit more flexible. We have also booked artists for the evening on the day of the celebration!

In general, no. As long as you only invite personal acquaintances and friends and do not plan a public birthday party, the private birthday concert does not have to be registered with GEMA. If you know your guests personally and you are celebrating with your family and friends, you don't have to pay attention to anything else.
